Historical Details: The Legg Mason Building (originally the United States Fidelity & Guaranty Life Insurace Company) was the "first high-rise corporate headquarters building to be constructed in the Inner Harbor renewal area".
Technical Details: Deep beams allow for the use of only four exterior columns at the corners. Note the very deep transfer girder above the lobby, which allows for the removal of interior columns at the base.
